DUAL invites applications for our summer Design Internship. Interns will work closely with both principals to learn fundamental aspects of architectural design and practice over a full-time, in-office internship of up to 400 hours. Duties will be aligned to the Intern’s interests and abilities and DUAL’s project needs, but may include digital sketching, installation fabrication, online and offline marketing, research (building code, construction technology, sustainability, zoning), presentation and publication design, 3-D and physical modeling, writing and editing, and site documentation. A stipend of $11 - $14 per hour is available.

We seek a proactive, self-starting student or recent grad who is a strong designer or analytical thinker, wanting to develop a commitment to architecture or one of the many fields it touches on, such as construction, engineering, graphic design, historic preservation, interior design, landscape architecture, marketing and media, planning, or urbanism.

Assistant Project Manager & Designer

GMI Architects is a growing and evolving firm and looking for a motivated and team oriented individual to join our team. We are located in the town of Bristol, Rhode Island with an office located directly across from a scenic park on the water.  Our studio culture strives to create a casual and person oriented atmosphere to balance the focused and deliberate requirements of the profession.

Candidates should have four to six years of experience; licensure is not required. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Architecture or a Masters of Architecture degree. Responsibilities include assisting the Project Manager in the production and coordination of a project from schematic design to construction documentation, and continuing with construction administration to project close-out. The position has flexible hours and can be part-time to full-time depending on the candidate.

Union Studio, a 22-person architectural firm in downtown Providence, RI, is seeking an experienced, dynamic marketing professional to fill the role of Director of Strategic Marketing. This is a leadership position within the firm and requires close collaboration with Union Studio’s principals. The Director of Strategic Marketing will be responsible for identifying new opportunities for firm growth through both entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial initiatives. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8-10 years of marketing / business experience ideally in the Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, Construction, and/or Design Industries
  • Demonstrated balance of business acumen and passion for design
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Brand management experience including a refined graphic design aesthetic
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Powerpoint and/or other presentation software
  • A commitment to New Urbanist and Smart Growth principles
  • Familiarity with the national landscape of architectural and development firms and best marketing practices
  • Excellent management skills and the ability to be self-directed with multiple deadlines
  • A flexible schedule permitting evening events and travel if necessary
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a design-related field is preferable but not required
