DJ Fernandes, AIA

Treasurer (2022-23)

DJ Fernandes, a Rhode Island native from Barrington attended boarding school at St. George’s, currently resides in Providence with his wife who is a real estate agent/interior designer and his teenage daughter who attends SG.

DJ has over 25 years of true design/build architecture and construction experience/supervision. He graduated from the Tulane University School of Architecture with a Masters degree in 1995. A licensed architect in RI and AZ, NCARB certified, and a member of the AIA since 2006.

After graduating from college DJ eventually became a principal of The Construction Zone in Phoenix, AZ working to execute residential and boutique commercial projects in collaboration with architects such as Lake Flato, Wendell Burnette, Will Bruder, and Steven Holl. In 2010 DJ formed a real estate development entity centering on hospitality operations, tenant improvements, and asset management.

His family moved to RI in 2017 where they purchased and restored a circa. 1775 Farmhouse in Kingston. Currently as a Project Executive at Site Specific, DJ provides leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of our Project Management team and directly interfaces with clients. In addition, DJ assists in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures to support Site Specific’s mission and vision. Outside the office, DJ is an avid golfer, hiker, birdwatcher, and outdoor enthusiast.

I feel like my voice may be a different one than typical and can add diversity toan extraordinary group.
