Shawmut Construction will lead the tour and provide a real hands-on method for Emerging Professionals to gain construction experience. \nShawmut will discuss the digital mechanical coordination and the use of Navisworks in the coordination process. This opportunity is also a chance for participants to learn about building superstructure and curtainwall design for this seven-story urban high-rise building. Currently the bylaws require the Chapter to hold regular meetings 6 times a year (in addition to the annual meeting).  The bylaws also require the Chapter’s Board of Directors to meet monthly (excluding summer). This proposal removes the regular meeting requirement for Chapter meetings. Martina Haggarty from City of Providence Department of Planning and Development will approach resilience from an urban design and mobility standpoint\, with a focus on resilient infrastructure and impacts on our cities from increased density.   Stephanie Zurek from Union Studio Architects will address resilience of Rhode Island’s existing building infrastructure and historic preservation viewpoint of “Keeping History above Water”.  And Kenneth Filarski will discuss the recent amendments to the Green Buildings Act to include LEED for Neighborhood Development and SITES\, to demonstrate how legislation can help promote effective sustainable and resilient design and planning for buildings\, structures\, and landscapes responding to the dynamics of climate change and resiliency.
