SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Residential - Weatherization\, Insulation and Building Science
DESCRIPTION:Presented by CLEAResult \nRegister \nThis course will discuss the basics of observing what is needed for a home to be energy-efficient and safe for occupants throughout all seasons. \nLearning Objectives\n\nThe course will begin with insulation basics and then extend to all areas of making a home more energy efficient which will not only help the homeowners’ energy consumption but will also benefit their health\, welfare\, and the environment.\nLearn about the fundamentals of Building Science\, Insulation and Energy Consumption through Heat Transfer by Conduction\, Convection and Radiation.\nWhat is infiltration and why is it important? Learn about air infiltration\, air sealing\, and air quality by reviewing statistical figures on lack of insulation and moisture.\nNew Homes Existing Homes. Learn about construction basics\, vented vs. unvented attics\, HVAC systems and green misconceptions.\nA review of how Rhode Island Energy’s technical support\, rebates and energy incentives will be discussed along with how they can assist with achieving improvements.\n\nHSW Justification\nThe U.S. Department of Energy released the results of the National Evaluation of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). The result of these studies provides the success of its endeavors. Energy efficiency is a primary focus of Weatherization\, and the evaluations showed that single-family households saved an average of over $200 on energy bills annually. Yet\, the most inspiring benefits of the program had nothing to do with energy at all. It’s a proven fact that the “non-energy” benefits associated with weatherization and retrofit activities are huge! The health benefits were some of the most impressive results to come out of the evaluations. According to these peer-reviewed findings\, participants in the Weatherization program can reduce the need for emergency room visits and other health-related costs\, saving families thousands in non-energy related benefits. \n  \nRICode R24-105

SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Residential - Zero Energy Homes - Designing HVAC for Lg. Spaces w/Low Loads
DESCRIPTION:Presented by CLEAResult \nRegister \nPlease note this program expires November 17\, 2026. If course is not available for use\, it will replaced by CLEAResult. \nThis course focuses on the HVAC and ventilation provisions of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) including correct sizing and design of HVAC systems\, and ventilation strategies that ensure enhanced indoor air quality. \nLearning Objectives\n\nLearn about the “house as a system approach” to achieve optimum design for a low load home along with the importance of equipment selection and design considerations.\nWe will go over proper sizing\, system design\, duct leakage testing and\nVentilation strategies such as Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) for optimal indoor air quality will be\nLearn about the importance of contractor training and tenant/homeowner education for achieving a comfortable home that will stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer.\nA review of how Rhode Island Energy’s technical support\, rebates\, and energy incentives along with how they can assist with achieving improvements will be summarized.\n\nHSW Justification\nFew building professionals seem not to fully grasp the relationship between health\, ventilation\, and humidity. When designing an HVAC system for high preforming tightly built homes\, ventilation and humidity have a big impact on occupant wellbeing. A good system will more than pay for itself in reduced heating and cooling costs and designers have a responsibility to help ascertain healthy and safe environments. \n  \nRICode R24-107
