SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Using Thermally Modified Wood in Building Design
DESCRIPTION:1 LU | HSW \nPresented by Thermory USA \nRegister \nCourse Description: This course covers Thermally Modified Wood in its entirety. While we will touch on the manufacturing process and benefits\, the major focus is the sustainability aspect along with embodied carbon\, LEED & LBC\, waste reduction and the importance of specifying responsibly sourced lumber. \nThermal modification is a tried and tested process for increasing the durability of wood while maintaining a warm aesthetic in building design. This course examines all aspects of this sustainable wood product and how it can be incorporated into a variety of projects. \nLearning objectives: \n\nExplain how the thermal modification process increases the durability of wood to provide a material that can be specified for longevity in building projects\nIdentify the ways that thermally modified wood can help contribute to the overall sustainability of a building project\nIdentify appropriate applications for the use of thermally modified wood to maintain aesthetic standards and ensure long-term performance\nExplain the difference between wood preservation techniques in order to specify those that contribute to a healthier\, more sustainable project while maintaining a specific design aesthetic\nApply course content to improve the design and performance of their own projects.

SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Accessibility Standards for Fenestration
DESCRIPTION:1 LU | HSW \nPresented by YKK AP \nRegister \nCourse description: The fundamental philosophy of the International Building Code now is that everything is required to be accessible; only exceptions will be called out.  Yet it can be confusing to distinguish between code requirements and requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fair Housing Act (FHA).   When does the code or regulation apply?  What are the exceptions?  This course will reconcile the three sets of requirements – IBC\, ADA and FHA\, as related to commercial fenestration – doors and windows. \nLearning objectives: \nAfter completing this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify doors on an Accessible Route that must meet ADA  and / or FHA requirements.\nDistinguish between ADA requirements for “Places of Public Accommodation”  and FHA scoping requirements for “Into and Through” the dwelling.\nRecognize when to meet accessibility guidelines and when exceptions or exclusions apply.  E.g.\, distinguish accessible doors from usable doors.\nUtilize opening / operating force definitions and distinguish from latch retraction\, or the force to start the door in motion\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Heat Pump and Electrification in Commercial Buildings
DESCRIPTION:1 LU | HSW \nPresented by CLEAResult \nRegister \nCourse description: This session will provide an overview of commercial heat pumps and the different systems and equipment types. Hear about different heat pump application considerations\, and how proper sizing\, installation and operation can affect the indoor air quality along with the occupants’ health and wellbeing. \nElectrification of building energy systems is a critical element in the building design-construction industry’s evolution\, and its shifts toward sustainability. A significant increase in Rhode Island’s state energy code stringency is anticipated in early 2024\, which would result in an increase in commercial heat pump installations. Heat pump heating and cooling systems can offer building owners significant benefits over traditional HVAC systems\, for new construction and existing building renovations. This presentation will review the basics of pump basics\, and their design considerations. Case studies will reflect a representative cross section of heat pump applications within the commercial building industry. Funded by Rhode Island Energy \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand the differences between the most common types of commercial heat pump systems.\nLook at four different applications of heat pump systems in high performance projects.\nLearn to evaluate air source heat pump performance and efficiency.\nReview current RI code requirements related to heat pumps.\nExplore the role of heat pump technology in current trends for electrification in commercial buildings.

If you think this doesn’t apply to you\, congratulations\, you’ve just made yourself a target. \nYou don’t need a hacker to “break in” when you hand them the keys through your inbox. \nBusiness Email Compromise (BEC) isn’t just a tech problem—it’s a business-ending problem. One email spoof. One wrong click. One small lapse. That’s all it takes to drain your bank account\, steal your client data\, and annihilate your reputation. Sound dramatic? It’s not. It’s happening every single day to business owners who thought “we’re too small to be targeted.” \nThis isn’t some fear-based fluff. This is your wake-up call. \nJoin us for a fast-paced\, BS-free session designed to arm you with the facts and the exact steps you need to take to secure your business from BEC attacks before you end up as the next horror story. \nWhy You Should Attend This Webinar: \n\nUnderstand why YOU are a target—and what makes small and mid-sized businesses cybercriminals’ favorite prey.\nReal stories\, real damage. We’ll show you how businesses just like yours were blindsided by BEC attacks—and what it cost them in dollars\, downtime\, and credibility.\nClear\, simple steps you can take immediately—no tech jargon\, no fluff\, just practical tactics to lock down your inbox and protect your assets.\nLive Q&A: Got burning questions? Bring them. We’re answering them live\, unfiltered.\n\nWho Should Be There: If you’re the one who signs the checks\, owns the firm\, manages sensitive client data\, or carries the weight of compliance—this is for YOU. Don’t leave your firm exposed because “IT is someone else’s job.” It’s not. You’re the final line of defense. \nBonus Reasons You Can’t Afford to Miss This: \n\nYou’re the one your clients TRUST. One breach and that trust evaporates.\nYour competitors are beefing up their cyber defenses—don’t let them use your security failures against you.\nA single compromised inbox could cost you thousands—or everything.\nPeace of mind isn’t a slogan. It’s a strategy. And it starts here.\n\n
