SUMMARY:AIAU LIVE - Examining the Coronavirus Aid\, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, April 2\, from 3:00 – 4:00 pm ET\, for a webinar to examine the Coronavirus Aid\, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.  \n On Friday\, March 27\, after days of intense negotiations\, the Coronavirus Aid\, Relief\, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law. This sweeping $2.2 trillion emergency stimulus package was passed on a bipartisan basis to help abate the massive economic disruption caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In addition to direct payments to huge swaths of the American population\, this Act provides for $350 billion for small business loans\, an expansion of unemployment insurance\, and tax relief to some employers. Further\, for those firms that do business directly with the federal government\, there are a number of provisions that address new programs that are being made available to government contractors. Many of these provisions will aid businesses in making difficult decisions about their workforce as the nation comes to a standstill due to the need for social distancing. In particular\, employers that maintain their payroll will be eligible for forgivable loans to blunt the impact of the virus. \n This webinar is limited to 1\,000 attendees. Register now to confirm your access to the content. If you are not able to get into the session live\, a link to the recording will be provided via email once its available.  \n Link HERE to Register for the webinar.

SUMMARY:Online CE Webinar - Comparative Study of Wood and Aluminum Windows in Commercial Buildings (Pella)
DESCRIPTION:Program No. P117: Comparative Study of Wood and Aluminum Windows in Commercial Buildings (Pella) \n1.0 HSW – Register for Zoom CE Webinar\, required. \nBoth wood and aluminum windows are being used extensively in today’s commercial and institutional buildings\, especially in education\, health care\, and offices. Using project case studies from across the United States\, this program examines how window selection criteria (aesthetics\, cost\, energy efficiency\, and sustainability) impact the design process. \nAs we look at commercial window applications which include punched openings\, storefronts\, and curtain walls\, architects will learn some of the advantages and disadvantages associated with the use of wood or aluminum windows in each application. As we compare aesthetics\, cost\, energy efficiency\, and sustainability; architects will improve their ability to objectively advise their clients on what is the best window solution for their next project. \nLearning Objectives:• Describe how the aesthetic attributes of wood and aluminum windows contribute to interior environments that are livable\, comfortable\, productive\, safe\, and beautiful.• Identify the initial costs associated with wood and aluminum windows and how they impact the life cycle assessment of the window systems.• Compare how the physical attributes of wood and aluminum windows contribute to the overall energy efficiency of the building envelope.• Use energy modeling to determine the annual energy costs for wood and aluminum window systems in different climatic zones.
