Many offices struggled to stay busy during 2020 when the pandemic caused a decrease in work. KITE’s group research initiative began to keep our office working on meaningful assignments and to ensure the staff stay connected while working remotely. This aligned with KITE’s pre-pandemic interest in building our knowledge about human-centered design and how it can change architecture as we know it. Together we investigated specific design strategies associated with cognitive behavior to create space that supports our well-being and produced a robust set of illustrated white papers. This presentation will provide attendees with an overview of new ways to structure projects\, and an introduction to human-centered design. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nLearn how investing in knowledge can provide meaningful investment of time during a decrease in a firm’s workload.\nExplore how aspects of Distributed Agile Teams can inform a different way to structure projects.\nTechniques to improve office connectivity and engagement through research projects.\nUnderstand human-centered design as a new\, science-based way of looking at architecture.
