Course description: The Passive House design and construction principles have been growing in popularity due to their proven success in improving the quality of new building construction and ongoing operations, while remaining cost competitive. In the past several years, various state governments (including Massachusetts) have adopted Passive House certification as an optional compliance pathway for energy code compliance. This training session introduces the Passive House rating system, which is a rigorous standard for energy efficiency, comfort, indoor air quality, sustainability, and quality assurance in both commercial and residential buildings. Participants will gain an understanding of the main principles, design strategies, costs and benefits associated with passive energy design principles, and Passive House certification. Prerequisite Knowledge:

This training is designed for individuals with a basic understanding of building design and construction. No prior knowledge of Passive House is required, but a familiarity with energy efficiency concepts could be beneficial.
