Presented by WSP

Register

Location: WSP Office, 1223 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence

Join members of the Rhode Island design community to engage in conversations about embodied carbon in our built environment.

In this presentation, Jan Koch, a senior project manager at Shawmut Design and Construction, will share their team’s experience on recently completed Living Building Challenge (LBC) projects in Connecticut. Most recently, the team completed the 50-bed Living Village in August of 2025 for the Yale Divinity School’s new housing. Discussion will include additional projects and time for attendees to ask questions and share their own experiences in LBC projects.

About the Speaker

Jan Koch is a senior project manager at Shawmut Design and Construction. She takes pride in not only delivering complex projects, but also delighting clients, mentoring, and rallying team members to overcome project challenges.

She acted as LBC Project Manager on World Headquarters for HMTX Industries (completed in 2022), which is on track to become the first LBC Petal Certified project in the State of Connecticut. Koch is currently closing out work on the Living Village at Yale Divinity School, which is seeking a full LBC certification, the first University Housing to pursue this goal globally.
