Course Description:  A discussion of the complexities of flashing details as they pertain to different roofing systems. This presentation provides procedures on how to improve the quality of the roofing system details by being code compliant and making other upgrades to the specifications.

Learning Objectives:

• Gain an understanding of how ASCE 7 and ANSI/SPRI ES-1 impact IBC code compliance and design of roofing and flashing systems
• Identify the different types of flashing components, and how to detail them accordingly when designing a roofing system
• Review the major reasons for flashing failure including good and bad examples of typical flashing conditions to help identify potential problems
• Develop  details and spec language to avoid common errors in specifying roofing systems and flashing details using quality materials and good roofing design practices that are commonly overlooked
