The American Institute of Architects Rhode Island chapter was pleased to announce the winners of the 2017 AIA Rhode Island Awards Program, at its Annual Design Awards Celebration held Dec. 7, 2017. The event took place at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center.
The annual award program recognizes design excellence in projects in Rhode Island or by Rhode Island Architects.
The 2017 Design Awards jury was comprised of members from AIA San Fernando Valley, California. The jury included Jonathan Gilliam, AIA, KDL Architects, Miguel Maio, AIA, Maio Grodsky Architecture, Richard Gemigniani, AIA, Gemigniani Architects, and George De La Nuez, AIA, Rocha Nuez Associates. The jury moderator was 2017 Chapter President Jennifer Space, Assoc. AIA, New England Medical Design.
The jury chose to recognize 23 total projects. Awards were given over a number of categories in three classifications: Honor, Merit, and Citation, with Honor being the highest category.
