WEBINAR: Heat Pump and Electrification in Commercial Buildings

Tue February 13 at 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

1 LU | HSW

Presented by CLEAResult

Zoom Registration

Course Description: This session will provide an overview of commercial heat pumps and the different systems and equipment types. Hear about different heat pump application considerations, and how proper sizing, installation and operation can affect the indoor air quality along with the occupants’ health and wellbeing.

Electrification of building energy systems are a critical element in the building design-construction industry’s evolution, and its shifts toward sustainability. A significant increase in Rhode Island’s state energy code stringency is anticipated in early 2024, which would result in an increase in commercial heat pump installations. Heat pump heating and cooling systems can offer building owners significant of benefits over traditional HVAC systems, for new construction and existing building renovations. This presentation will review heat pump basics, and their design considerations. Case studies will reflect a representative cross section of heat pump applications within the commercial building industry.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the differences between the most common types of commercial heat pump systems.
  • Look at four different applications of heat pump systems in high performance projects.
  • Learn to evaluate air source heat pump performance and efficiency.
  • Review current RI code requirements related to heat pumps.
  • Look at the role of heat pump technology in current trends for electrification in commercial buildings.
