PARK(ing) Day Providence 2014 was a success!

On September 19th, AIAri’s Emerging Professionals Committee took part in PARK(ing) Day Providence 2014 along with a number of other Rhode Island architecture firms, businesses, organizations and schools to transform parking spaces into “parklets” for a day. The goal: to bring awareness to the importance of green spaces and public parks in urban areas. Our space was located just outside AIAri’s Window on Architecture and immediately adjacent to the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).  Together, we were able to engage the public with a large scale game of checkers amidst numerous plantings.  Take a look:

Who shall reign supreme?  Will it be Blue?  Or will it be Red?

The AIAri Emerging Professionals Committee would like to thank All Island Landscape for donating plantings for the day and Patcraft for donating the carpet tiles we used to create our checkerboard!

We’d also like to thank ASLA for taking part in this event with us and Aquidneck Landworks, who supplied ASLA with plants for the day.
