{{hagerty{{In the 1930s, Walter Gropius worked with Marcel Breuer to design a house in the costal Massachusetts town of Cohasset. This epitome of principled design, Hagerty House, is as much a work of progressive genius as it is an emblem of tortured compromise. Over 75 years after its completion, at a time when the notion of the modernist canonical precedent is a rarity, Hagerty House 1.011 is an experiment in architectural versioning and representation.
The authors of this project do not claim any design authority of the building, but have taken the retrospectively contested features of the house as an implied invitation to make delicate and minor revisions, while strictly and respectfully adhering to the principles of the original work. Through modern day techniques of drawing, rendering, and printing, Hagerty House 1.011 provides new insight into the original design and shows the power of representing ideas in the space of paper.
