Course description: The session will focus on the commissioning requirements found in the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and Rhode Island amendments. These standards help to ensure safe air quality for occupants.

Learn how the process of assuring that all systems and components of a building or industrial plant are designed, installed, tested, operated, and maintained according to the operational requirements of the owner or final client. A commissioning process may be applied not only to new projects but also to existing units and systems subject to expansion, renovation, or revamping.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn how commissioning ensures that you maximize the performance of your equipment through the “commissioning plan” and how this plan should outline the scope of work and define the processes such as testing and balancing, sequence of operations, documentation requirements and preliminary and final reporting.
• A general overview of the three prominent delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and IPD) and the role of the building commissioning agent will be outlined.
• Gain a better understanding of building commissioning by viewing actual case studies.
• We will discuss why new building construction and large-scale renovation projects are encouraged to maximize the financial incentives available from Rhode Island Energy’s Energy Efficiency Programs.
