Course Description: This presentation will provide an overview of HVAC, electrical and plumbing system design. We will cover basic scientific principles on heat transfer and electricity, HVAC, electrical and fire protection system options, and also how they affect architectural design. Topics include: heat transfer, ventilation, air and water cooling systems, heating systems, centralized and de-centralized systems, terminal equipment, sustainability, fundamentals of electricity, electric distribution, and plumbing systems.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the fundamental principles of heating, cooling and ventilation as well as the different types of HVAC systems
- Understand the HVAC system selection process and its impact on the architecture/interiors
- Understand the fundamentals of electricity and the types of building electrical distribution systems. Review lighting controls options
- Understand the different types of plumbing systems
