Zoom Registration required
Course Description: Provide an overview of builders’ hardware or finish hardware choices; options, applications and information for users and designers to reduce misapplications. We will discuss building code administrations, laws, code compliance, and industry standards for providing security and safety measures while providing accessibility and emergency egress to meet the legal aspects of a building and building design.
Learning Objectives:
- Understanding the hardware selection process for architectural openings (Why are there different types?) providing security and safe egress for zoning, regulatory, and code compliance and to ensure life cycle assessment and preservation and reuse of existing facilities.
- Coordinate related architectural items requiring finish hardware. Analyze conditions and coordinate related architectural items requiring finish hardware for windows and openings to accommodate building form and enable efficient traffic control.
- Understand that there are many elements to any entrance and finish hardware specification issues that have to be coordinated to provide preservation and re use of buildings and provide architectural grade products for structural integrity, life cycle assessment, and soundness of the building.
- Specifying architectural opening hardware products (know components and terms) to comply with life safety, building code, and accessibility requirements for inclusion in submittals and hardware schedules to enable equal access by users and owners of the buildings.
