Course description:  This continuing education course covers the financial impacts of selecting “green” interiors products in settings that are subject to constant disinfection and cleaning.  We will primarily focus on healthcare projects and will cover failures and successes in “green” design pertaining to furniture, case goods, and floor covering.  

Learning Objectives:

• Summarize safety and operational challenges to health facility designers/ owners selecting high performance products using current commercial testing
• Evaluate the US CDC/ EPA cleaning modalities required for health facilities, and the effect they have on operations, performance, and patient safety
• Recognize root issues of sustainability vs. maintainability in three diverse healthcare facility case study examples
• Integrate guidance and required new testing methods to setup successful surface and furnishing specifications for the future
