Course description:  

Designing with various forms of translucent daylighting to earn LEED and/or assist in the implementation of Green or Sustainable design. Topics discussed include USGBC/LEED basics, the origins of translucent daylighting, considerations and design, basic and advanced daylighting techniques, energy conservation, Heat Island, Effect, meeting ASHRAE 90.1 criteria, and opportunities offered in contrast, design, form, and aesthetics.

Learning objectives:

• Utilize Daylight Modeling techniques to earn Daylight credits
• Design with proper face sheet combinations to earn Heat Island (roof credits)
• Analyze U-factors to maximize thermal performance and meet code requirements
• Incorporate vision glazing into translucent systems to create a balance of daylight and views
