It is with extreme sorrow we share news of the sudden and unexpected passing of 2019 AIA Rhode Island Chapter President, Dan Kwasniewski, AIA on Friday evening, March 1st.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Dan was touched by his warm heart, ebullient spirit and positive energy. He lit up every room he walked into, and we loved him dearly for it. Professionally, Dan’s exuberant energy was only matched by his impact in the architectural field: locally, nationally and internationally. Dan was a tremendous mentor to his students at Roger Williams University, and leader to us in AIA Rhode Island. Dan was a visionary, and his vision for the future of our Chapter was especially strong. He will be sorely missed.

Our hearts go out to Dan’s family, his husband, and his children in the face of this tragic loss.

Additional information about memorial services will be made available on this webpage as per the wishes of his family.  We know you join us all in offering our heartfelt condolences to them, and to each other.

Regretfully,

Caroline Stevens, AIAri Executive Director

Jonathan M. Taylor, AIA 2019 Vice President / President Elect
