Dear Members – New and Old,

Once again, we ring in the New Year, hopefully feeling refreshed and ready for 2016.  We make our resolutions and begin anew, with the anticipation of new experiences and opportunities still fresh in our sights. AIA Rhode Island is not any different.  We are excited to begin this new year with new ideas and our best foot forward.

In May, AIAri will be leaving our home after almost ten years at the “Window” on Washington Street. Roger Williams University is continuing its partnership with us and has graciously offered us space on the first floor of their new location on Empire Street.  We look for your participation in renovating this space as it will be the heart of AIAri operations.

At the same time, the AIAri Executive Committee is reviewing the strategic plan and realigning ourselves to better serve our members. Our goal is to grow our services to better meet your needs, and increase awareness, both with members and the public through stronger communication.  In addition, 2016 continues partnerships with our Corporate Affiliates, RWU/RISD, IIDA, and many more.

Be sure to check out our calendar for the year (http://www.aia-ri.org/events/calendar/2016/1/).  It will include some of our most successful annual events, such as our Open House (coming up in February), the Lobster Boil, and Design Awards, as well as some new ones.

As always, the Executive Committee meetings are open to the membership and provide a great opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas.  With our combined contributions and talents, we will continue to grow and improve.

I am honored to be your 2016 Chapter President and am looking forward to working with and for you.

Thank you for your past and future involvement and here’s to a truly successful and productive year!
