On Wednesday, June 29, 2016, the Intern Development Program (IDP) will be updated to reflect six broad areas of current architectural practice—and renamed the Architectural Experience Program (AXP). http://www.ncarb.org/News-and-Events/News/2015/Nov-OverhaulIDP.aspx

While NCARB launches the new system, the experience section of the Reporting System in My NCARB will be temporary offline. During this system upgrade, users will not be able to access, document, or submit any experience reports. The upgrade will begin at 8 a.m. on June 29, and full access should be restored by the end of the day.

A few additional things Aspiring Architects should keep in mind as launch date approaches:

1.       Submit Your Saved Reports – A number of current opportunities will no longer qualify for experience hours once AXP launches. If you have reports for these experiences in saved status and would like them to count under the current IDP requirements, you must submit them prior to June 29, 2016.

2.       Plan for delays – Keep in mind that the system may be slow prior to this upgrade as candidates prepare for AXP launch. Please be patient, and submit your reports sooner rather than later.

3.       Plan for AXP – Not sure what hours you’ll need to earn in the new AXP? Take this opportunity to meet with your supervisor and discuss your experience requirement, and explore how your hours will transfer over with NCARB’s interactive Experience Calculator – http://idpcalc.ncarb.org
