Course description: The Passive House design and construction principles have been growing in popularity due to its proven success in improving the quality of new building construction and ongoing operations, while remaining cost competitive. In the past several years, various state governments (including Massachusetts) have adopted Passive House certification as an optional compliance pathway for energy code compliance. This training session provides an introduction to the Passive House rating system, which is a rigorous standard for energy efficiency, comfort, indoor air quality, sustainability, and quality assurance in both commercial and residential buildings. Participants will gain an understanding of the main principles, design strategies, costs and benefits associated with passive energy design principles, and Passive House certification.
