April 12, 2023 AM Session: CLEAResult Jon Erickson – Residential Air Source Heat Pumps Course Description: The recent shift to electrification and better performing homes has resulted in increased popularity of air source heat pumps. As the industry shifts, both builders and homeowners need to understand the basic principles behind this technology to effectively provide adequate heating, cooling and dehumidification i their homes. This presentation will cover four primary topics:

• Energy Code and Critical Control Layers
• Air Source Heat Pump Principles
• System Design
• Mechanical Ventilation

PM Session: Viessmann – Fundamentals & Application of Outdoor Reset This presentation will explore outdoor reset as it applies to building heating. The following topics will be discussed:• Heat Transfer from boiler to the outdoors and what drives the process.• When the balance in the heat transfer process changes, how is it controlled?• How does a heating curve work into the process and how is it selected?• What additional equipment is needed.• Why should outdoor reset be used and how outdoor reset can be controlled.

Learning Objectives:

• Explain the heat flow process from burner to outdoors.
• List the benefits of outdoor reset.
• Explain how outdoor reset works.
• Describe the process of selecting a heating curve for an application.

AM Sessions will be followed by a tour of Viessmann’s residential and commercial Boiler Room training labs, and rooftop solar array.

A complimentary lunch will then be provided.
